Minion's Bag of Mystery
Availability: | On backorder |
The Minoin's Bag of Mystery was born from self-designated Shop Minion Liz (I call her my super-awesome assistant) getting tired of wading through the leftover balls of yarn from my shop samples. We introduced them at the WNC Yarn Crawl a couple of years ago, and they have been a hit ever since! You get an assortment of yarns from the shop, and no one knows what is in it until you open it (not even us)!
Currently we only have the classic 125 gram size, if we decide to opt for larger amounts we will list them here! We also only have about 5 in stock, but I'll put the settings on so you can order even if we run out, we'll just make more! So even if it says "On Backorder," you can still purchase one!
The 125 gram original size, for only $10, includes five 25 gram balls of yarn from the shop. Weight, color, and quality is not guaranteed: you could get bulky Encore, or you could get fine cashmere! While 25 grams is not usually enough for a whole project, it is a wonderful way to sample the yarn and experiment with new colors. We are working to include a slip of paper in each package to let you know what you have purchased (as we can, it depends on how popular the become! You can always contact us for more info). In any case, 125 grams total is more than a traditional skein of yarn (usually 50 or 100 grams) at statistically far less than the average skein in the shop (fancier hand dyes can run $25-45 a skein).
Crafters will always ask us, "what do I do with these?" The answer is whatever you want! If they are all different thicknesses, you could make a cowl with a large needle, changing yarns as you run out, or you can save them in your stash for that perfect accent to a project. Use them as a way to sample yarns from our shop, or plan your next purchase or project! Some will be new yarns we just got in and made a sample from, some will be yarns that have been discontinued or we are moving out of the shop. mIt is all part of the mystery!

Loved my minion bag....5 balls of beautiful sport/dk yarn. I misplaced the note that lusted what they were. 2 ball were variegated in coordinating colors of greens, yellows, blues, oranges. They knit up into a beautiful triangle scarf. The other balls were a lavender with a beautiful sheen, a white with a metallic stripe and a more rustic raffia colored one. I think the rustic one would be a great contrast with the white one. These bags would also make great stocking stuffers!
